Nice job on the press! I made one back in 2011 and still use it all the time. I used a milling machine to make my fingers instead of laser or water jet cutting. Pressing my sons Bow.
Job well done. Now it makes me want to get my tailend in gear and build mine, I have most of the parts. Hutch
Very cool . I guess I could get off my lazy but and build mine. Are there any planes out there. I guess I could get off my lazy but and google. LOL Im going to do that and I will come back to post links I find to this thread.
my cost me about 30$...I used the old parts presses for wood, and some parts of iron pipe, normally it is fun to build yourself things like that...you have plans for fingers on AT forum!
Ok this one looks awesome and very familiar. LOL Im just putting this link up here because he put the .pdf drawing of the fingers on there. http://forums.bowhunting.com/bowhunting-talk/22673-my-homemade-linear-bow-press.html Ok this has nothing to do with it but this kid is a genius . He will be rich one day. Home Made Oak Compound Bow - YouTube Im not having much google luck. Still working on it.
The press fingers seem to be the biggest hurdle. You can find plans and how to's all over but getting the fingers can be tough because Last Chance prosecutes anybody that copies and sells fingers. So you pretty much have to make your own. A guy named 92Safari on archery talk will sell you some, but they are not cheap. I contacted a few shops and all quoted me between $80-100 to cut some fingers. I do not have access to a water jet or milling machine, nor do I have the skills to use either lol. I plan to get a real press this winter and get away from my Bow Master portable but I may just buy an EZ Green for $399. By the time you spend $100 on fingers, then with the cost of steel, the acme threaded rod, the hand wheel, etc., etc you won't be saving much money. The benefit of building my own is I want to incorporate a draw board and that would allow me to do that.
Great Work! ... fortunately for myself I have a First Class pro shop real close that handles the heavy lifting on the bow.
Awesome job. Mine is no where near that good but it allows me to put in a peep and do other things. This is a link to the build http://www.bowhunting-forum.com/showthread.php?9040-DIY-bow-press Cost me about $20 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
