Anyone of you guys down south want some snow? We got over a foot here in Southern Wi. Wish I could go out this afternoon, but I have to butcher a deer I shot on Wed. and plow some snow. Man I'll bet they'll be moving this afternoon for sure.
I took tues and thurs off. Tues I shot a spike right in the middle of the snowstorm. I had the option of sled or cart. Sled sucked, ice build up on bottom like sandpaper. Grabbed cart (20" wheels), went through 6"snow no problem. Last night before ice storm, I shot a big 10 pointer. I was barely able to drive my truck right to him, but I got him in the hitch haul myself! Man did I get lucky! They should be out all over the place today, but if I shoot another one my wife will kill me!!!
Yeah its pretty WHITE out there right now, the wind is a hooowwwwllling as well. I'm hoping to make it out in the AM when the wind dies!
Man, all I can say is that cold weather hide sure absorbs well. From the meager trail I was second-guessing, maybe I heard a leg bone crunch instead of ribs. I could have made a better trail with a finger cut!! The I found him, and when I touched his hide, he was soaked! Glad I passed on that slam dunk skinny 8 pt at about 1pm!!
Sorry man, I figured you were working. I dropped it off at Mark's place. I'll get some pics this weekend, I was short for time yesterday.
You better tell Mark to get out there if you have been seeing that many deer. I almost hit a couple of does on Damisch that were working their way toward where you guys are hunting last night.
Bad Weather??? Wisconsin??? You guys get bad weather? lol. Twin Cites was Horrible today... Some snow this morning, then it turned ugly! Partly cloudy, some sun, no real wind, about 17-20 degrees. Just horrific!
We just got 8 wet inches over here in PA. I just got done plowing until I have to head back out and salt a few banks tomorrow. Come on Dec 26th. I need to get back out there.
We got clobbered in NY. We got a good 8-10 inches, and rumor has it that another 8-10 is coming Sunday.
Just heard we're getting another 4-6 inches Sat night. I might go out tomorrow night or Mon. eve. After that, gun season starts again on the 24th & goes until Jan 4th.
