What are cold temps in AL? Here in Michigan I remember missing two days in a row because it was -5° and some crazy wind chill temperature. Never thought in my life that I would have a "Cold Day" in MI
Damn... That's crazy. It was -30 wind chill yesterday morning and I don't think there was a single school delay. I do think some after school activities were cancelled though.
Thinking a few schools might be delayed tomorrow morning? Feels like -40 by 6am with a high temp of -4!! Woo! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Back in November when we got a big snowstorm (13 inches). The farmers were rushing to get the corn out and worked through the night. About 3am the farmer was pulling two gravity boxes full of corn and he started sliding into the ditch right in front of our house... The gravity boxes both tipped and spilled corn everywhere - They cleaned most of it up with a bobcat but there is still hundreds of pounds on the ground. With this cold weather we have deer out there every day... 2 of them have been killed already and one ran into the side of my car. When it is this cold, the deer will find the easiest source of food they can find. We've picked up as much as we can but the deer keep coming back.
Not too bad here. Low of 3 tomorrow and the rest of the week lows in the teens with highs in the 20s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fitz trust me humid cold goes to your bones, it is brutal. Florida at 30 degrees is worse than Minnesota in January at -20
Humid Cold sucks... but wind is what really sucks... If we are being totally honest, -20 and 0 true temps are hard to tell the difference between when walking around outside... Let a wind cut through your jacket like butter and again that temp doesn't matter, the windier the more miserable you will be. I'd rather have -20 and dead calm than 5 degrees and 20+ mph winds for any kind of outdoor activities.
I have been and will be working in this ****. 14+ hours a day in it. I hate winter but love my ice fishing so I guess I gotta deal with it.
I would like to hunt my corn field but I cannot take the cold at all anymore.temps below 20 you might as well call the meat wagon.
I know. It's whatever gets your core temp to drop. The coldest I've ever been was on a 65* day. I spent 45min snorkeling trying to find a guests wallet he thought he dropped in the lake. Water's temp was 55 or 60, but cooler at the 9-11" depths I was at. I was nearly hyperthermic afterwards. Good thing we had the sauna running. Humidity in the air increase its heat transfer rate. That's why a wet sauna doesn't have to be as hot as a dry sauna.
Windy days are by far the worst and the colder it gets, the more humidity that's in the air the worst the wind effects me. I had a occurrence a few years ago in 45 degree temps where I stuck it out through the rain and got drenched. I was fine until the sun started to go down and the wind picked up. My body basically started to shut down, I was actually concerned because I had no strength trying to get myself out of a tree with my climber. It took me damn near 30 minutes to get out of the tree that night when on a normal day where my body is warm I can get down within a few minutes. I've stuck it out in 10 - 0 degree weather on calm days where I didn't get nearly as cold as I did that day. But most the time you're not going to catch me in the woods bow hunting in weather like we're having in PA right now, this 10 - 0 degree weather with 15-20+ MPH winds is for the birds, forget it! I will no longer even consider hunting on rainy or windy days unless I'm hunting in a blind or in a tree stand with a roof and a closed off side to stop the rain and prevailing winds from hitting me constant.
That's because Fitz is just south of the Arctic Circle !!! In Milwaukee this morning is was actually a balmy -6, the warmest its been at my house in three days. They shut down some schools in the boonies in Southern Wisconsin this morning.
25mph wind now with gusts temp dropping like a rock..... I wish we had snow in the forecast, but as usual here in the south the cold and moisture never get here at the same time... I love it when it snows a few inches here the natives lose their minds...lol
