SOme of you may have seen the severe weather here in the midsection of the country this afternoon. About an hour'ish ago I watched as a fair sized tornado ripped past my properties, missing by maybe a mile. I think it went directly through one of the properties I manage but I've not been over there yet to check, nothing but brush on our ground anyway.

    But damn...that was a close one....:jaw:
    Stay safe everyone!

Those are all starting down in my neck of the woods. It has claimed two lifes so far. An it's not over yet. There should be several more firing up just to our west after dark.

The big one has been on the ground in ARK for well over an hour. The storms to our west just popped up. Hopefully all of the pics coming from ARK are better than they look.

Hopefully those all miss us up here, they look like they will track between you and I somewhere, going northeast. The storm that blew up at Ft.Scott KS about 4:30 is the one that almost nailed me. It tore up quite a strip of our timber on the management ground.

The one we had here tore about a 600 yard wide swath across my fields and across the neighbors corn that was about 6" tall. There is literally nothing left in his field but marked planter rows and mud and a groove through the brush, one on the south side and one exiting on the north.

I've never seen a tornado go straight from polar south to polar north....

Glad you're okay. Hunker down everyone in the lower eastern quadrant of the country, the news is predicting a rough three days.

Storming on us right now. Nothing to bad though. They are predicting them to get pretty rough in another hour or so though.

These types of T Storms are nice. Love setting outside watching them roll in.

My whole town in iowa was without power for about 4 hours. Kind of crazy to see. We finally have ours back but my parents side of town still doesnt.

Our hospital had a roof blow off one of the buildings and I only live about 6 blocks from there. Kind of creepy. Not sure of a tornado touch down or not. Have heard it was that or straight line wind. Stay safe guys.

The death toll in ARK is up to 16 this morning. They are still looking for missing people. Awful storms that rolled through last night.

Yeah I saw that this morning, we had a quiet night after the one tornado missed yesterday, that was more than enough for me. Praying those missing are found and for the families who lost loved ones. I hate tornados....

Ya we got lucky as well. Tornados suck. I still remember being an hour west of Joplin when it got destroyed. What a miserable honeymoon lol.

Texas ranks #1 in the United States for tornadoes with an average of 132 per year. Iowa gets an average of 48 tornadoes a year with the greatest number recorded being 122 in one year. 85% of those tornadoes are either F-0 or F-1 tornadoes, yet the F-1 Tornado that hit Kinross yesterday was still able to kill one woman and injure many more. Sometimes it's not the tornado that will kill you, but what the tornado is throwing.

I have been fortunate to live through five of them in Iowa, Texas, and of all places Korea and hopefully don't get the chance to have to survive another.

The one we had last evening sure tore the hell out of a section of timber. It got one of the trees I had a trail cam locked on with a cable. It stretched the wire cable out! Camera is okay but it pulled the SD card out and it's gone....

So scary. I have considered moving south a lot but these storms are a bit to much for me I think.
