Okay, I was out hunting the other day, two does and 3 fawns just like storm me with like less than 10 second I was surrounded, they spot but they did not give a **** (Vary unpressured deer; exposed to people all the time this is in Connecticut half farm, half residential kind of thing. all private deer at like this its not the first time it happened to me) Now that’s not the crazy part of the story. One of the deer with had scar on it. I didn’t shoot at the deer with the scar because I wanted a buck, and small branches were in the way.I was really picking reasons not to shoot because I really wanted a buck. I'm fairly confident I could have walked out with a deer that night but, the area I hunt.. these deer never seen a hunter in like 15 years and are so use to people you can basically have a casual walk and get within 20 yard of the deer so why take a not so perfect shot when I probibly will see them again. One week later there was a car crash and I saw the same deer with a scar on the side of the road dead by the crash. At first I was like dam they killed my deer. But then the next day in the news paper I found out the driver died. Now, I plan at shooting and killing every deer that walks in front of me buck or doe, young or old. hunter with low standards yes, do i care, no. My new philosophy is that "the state has given me six tags* I probibly should fill them with whatever". (*4 anywhere+2 Private in january) What do you guys think P.s. I could get even more tags in curtain zones but I have to kill lots of deer also, I kinda think i made the right choice there were couple branches that are gone now
Odds are there was more than one deer that created the situation at hand. It's an unfortunate outcome but one that you couldn't have controlled regardless of whether you shot that doe or not. Bizarre situation, but you shouldn't beat yourself up over it. Best of luck, don't think too hard on it though.
Yeah but what if you found out that deer saved someones life instead of being in a fatal car crash??? I bet you would be happy you let it go.....
I dont feel bad about its just WoW what are the odds, granted the guy might have been speeding or somthing and it was a shame he died. Figured I'll paint the ground with deer blood the best I can. a lot of people speed on that road, no cops, straight road but its hilly you cant see whats beyond the next hill its not the first accident. In this case it was a deer. but thanks for the comment.
Shoot what makes you happy, no explanation required. If you didn't have a clear shot, you didn't have a clear shot. No other decision to make about whether or not to shoot.
