Man, the early guys out tore the course up. McILroy shot 9 under. Tiger is 6 under through 15. It looks like weather may come in for the late starters. I thought the weather was suppose to be rotten today. No wind...no rain. It's not The Open as we usually expect it to be. Phil starts late. If he gets weather he'll be out of it before he gets half way through the first round. Right now there are 58 players under par.

Yeah good stuff so far. One thing I've never liked about tournaments is the starting slots. You could essentially play a course in the morning that is 3 or 4 shots easier than the pm tee times. And there's no way to really plan for it. Especially over there. It somewhat evens out over the course of the tournament and the leaders eventually end up playing the same conditions on sunday. But, there are some days where there is a dramatic difference that effects your score simply based on when you tee off.

Yeah....like when it's easier for the same set of players.....both Thurs. AND Fri..

Just watched Tom Watson, posing on the Swilkan Bridge for (presumably) the last time in an Open. End of a wonderful era.

Great man. He said he was more emotional when he was in Jacks group on Jacks last crossing of the bridge. The course whipped up on a bunch of them today. McILroy was brought back to earth in a cruel fashion. Lots of favorites missing the cut. Just a typical Open round. LOL God I love it. How about that amatuer who's like 5 under or something crazy like that.

It is a damn shame he didn't win The Open last year with his remarkable run.

Watson's not done - playing Open championships. He's just done at the Old Course. My bet is, he'll play in 3 more.

That's the way I took it too. Due to the fact it won't be back there for a while he was just saying goodbye to the old girl and the fans. He's playing too good to not play in The Open again.
