Im going hog hunting for the first time on public land in Bankhead national forest in cullman AL. If anyone knows a good starting point outrside the black warrior WMA I need the help. Also any tips on general hog info would be helpful.

Have you gone on your hunt yet? If not I can give you some general info, I'm not familiar with that WMA but I hunt hogs in SW Georgia and I'm sure it's similar.

Check thick overgrown areas that are near a creek. Hogs like to lay up in the shade in areas that stay wet so they can wallow in the mud. You can identify low areas like this on a map and I'm sure it won't take long to find signs of pig activity when you get out there on the ground. I like stalking and following the sign when I look for pigs, just don't rush and occasionally stop to listen. If you walk up on a group of hogs that are rooting you can get pretty close. Hogs that are bedded up will sometimes stay still and try go let you pass right by, they can hide pretty well so you need to pay attention to your surroundings. Have fun, I started hunting pigs a couple years ago and I love it.
