I rabbit hunt with beagles and in the off season go to AKC SPO field trials...After the deer season we rabbit/hare hunt almost every weekend. I also spend way to much collecting custom knives....Oh, and I fly fish or Salmon/Trout and Steelhead. The rest of the time I work and try not to piss my wife off.
I fish bass tournaments. I love weighing a big sack of bass and winning money........when it happens.
Right now, home improvement has been a major hobby of mine since purchasing almost three years ago. I also dabbled in homebrew game cameras during the winter.
Trial153- you run into the Carli's at any trials?..I work with them and hunted with thier dogs...quite a few field champs etc(got offered 6-8000$ for a couple -they sold one for I think 6000) -great dogs to hunt with - just gotta be on the lookout for the wolves here as much as the rabbits esp with that kind of pricetag.
Typical guy stuff. I work alot, 60+ hours a week, 15-16 hour days, 4 on 3 off on overnights, so I don't have alot of free time. Right now my hobbies tend to be relaxing at home and watching tv in my spare time, lol. I try to hunt 2 of the evenings I'm off and take the girlfriend out to dinner and a movie on 1 of them. When I have time though and I'm not at work, I'm either hunting (unless it's the off season) or doing hunting related things. I also play alot basketball, video games, and scout in the winter. Spring, I shed hunt and shoot. Summer it comes back to hunting, scouting, practicing again, and just being outdoors whether that means swimming, working, playing with the dog, or whatever. And you can almost guarantee that during the spring, summer, and fall, I'll have a fire going almost all day and night on my off days.
I am in NY so I dont see them often, I did meet them briefly when Gogebic Range Beagle Club flew me into judge one of their trials...might have been 2003....
Ive been known to play a little golf :D. Other than golf, I used to fish A LOT. Still get out a little but not like I used to. Home Improvement projects take up a lot of my time too. I watch and into every sport that exists. Now that my dreams of making the PGA tour (or nationwide) are long gone, I started playing lacrosse again. But, like most here, my #1 passion hobby and year round adventure is hunting. Always doing something hunting related.
Hunt year round. Fish year round. Backpacking long distance(almost did the whole AT). Doing house projects. Working on the truck. There really are way to many things I'm into, its sickening. Not enough money or time to do all the things I want. My GF takes up alot of my time also. Shes a keeper though.
I do lots of things. I've always been into fishing, but have really gotten back into it the last 2 years. This past summer I finally bought a decent boat, and also started a part time business making lures. I also ice fish, predator hunt, home projects, drinking with friends/family......etc. I used to be nuts about competitive archery, but got to the point where I was really burned out. This will be the first year in 8 years that I don't compete is some form of competitive archery.
During the winter i play Indoor soccer, and come summer i play outdoor. I also love the video games. my xbox and/or computer get a work out on days i have off/get our early. mostly playing MW3 as of right now, so my computer sits
My wife loves the lake so we spend a good bit of time boating in the summers, my boys love to fish so we hit that pretty hard too, outside of hunting thats about it for me.
Sailing If we are talking about things not involved with hunting.... Sailing. I'm 53 and got into it and bought my sail boat about 3 years ago. I wish I had discovered it a long time ago. Nothing like it. It is one of those "have to be there " things, but sailing in the quiet and being able to hear the stereo and talk with out yelling and not bouncing and flyin around the lake...not to mention wind is free. Then as evening gets there dropping anchor in a secluded cove, grillin steaks and shrimp....then retiring for the evening in the cabin with the lovely wife.....Then the sunrise and quiet and drinking coffee and scrambled eggs with bacon....hot dang I'll be working on the boat this weekend. SB
I used to do alot of ASA competitive archery ... and I and my husband as well became kinda burnt out on it, so now we just do a little of it and just for fun. I LOVE to Bowfish and will any chance I get I sew ( Trad Bow Cases, Video Camera Rain Covers, hunting cloths etc ) Kinda new to it as of last year I started filming my bowhunts and editing filmed hunts and I really enjoy it, getting a little bit more serious about it. I Projectile Point ( Arrowheads, Spearheads, scrapers, drills, knife etc ) Hunt , Shed Hunt, Mushroom hunt, and just generally anything to do outdoors. Scouting deer is one of my favorites, I like to spend as much time as I can patterning deer and just learning from observing them. I also do some artistic stuff with antlers, skull mounts and painting. And I love to cook...and ... to bad I love to eat even more Archery Instruction is something I really enjoy, theres nothing like sharing the sport with a newbie ! As someone else mentioned on here , there are to many things I really enjoy doing and not enough time or money to do any of them as much as I would like to.
I build r.c. stuff like this And i like to do some off road driving in my Daihatsu Sportrak I also read a lot, 2 or 3 books a week normaly
I have too many hobbies and am trying to cut them down to only a few. I'm a HUGE bass fishermen, rebuilt a jon boat into a little bass boat, going on 7 years of building a prostreet S-10 for 1/4mile, play lots of music with my old band members, on a trap league, do some leather craft (mostly sheaths), carve and build fishing lures...currently mulling the idea around of building a wireless camera system that can be accessed via the web from anywhere to monitor my hunting land. Life's too short to be curious and not do anything about it!
