it doesnt happen much, but i was just out shooting and owned the shlt out of the inside of my arm on one shot. what exactly causes that? i mean obviously my arm was tucked in the way of the bowstring but is there some mechanical tip to make sure it wont happen on an important shot

I'd shorten your draw length. If it happens periodically with your bare arm, It'll surely happen when you have your camo jacket on.

Also, don't lock your bow arm, mine always has a slight bend in it.

It would help if you could post a photo of yourself at full draw. Many guys on here, much wiser than I am, could critique your form.

sounds like you are griping your bow,not holding it right.

I'd say its a combination of incorrect grip and draw length too long. A pic of you at full draw would help in diagnose the problem.

Not sure how new you are to this stuff but I am only a few months in, and HAMMERED myself black, blue and purple on my 4th shot ever... Not sure about draw length and I'd need a new module to shorten but I'm now gripping properly and don't touch my arm anymore. I'd check your form before you spend any money...

I had the same problem. I shortened my DL 0.5" and it fixed it.

One of two things,, incorrect draw length or (and this was my problem) incorrect grip with hand. Dont palm the grip, but grip it in a fashion where your bow grip is in line with the bones in your arm if that makes sence.

I might add I had the same problem when I started out bowhunting and it was a combination of the grip and DL for me. Good luck with it. Since it doesnt happen every shot I would also work on the grip first.

It's all about your stance. Believe it or not, your foot placement makes a tremendous difference!

If its hitting just above your wrist it would be Grip. Mid-arm would be Draw.
You should have a slight bend in your arm. This not only keeps your arm out of the way but is a much more stable way to hold a bow. The proper draw length is very important and its shorter then most would think. GOOD LUCK!

Adding to this, your knuckels on your grip hand should be at a 45° angle outward from the grip. This will get the "fat" part of your arm away from the strings travel path. At least it works for me.
