Grant and I were out yesterday in our Wisconsin spot hanging a new set and searching for shed antlers and we found our #1 buck from last year. MULEY! He doesn't score anything crazy - but he has very unique character! I even had him in my blog last September. http://www.bowhunting.com/blog/post/2010-Bowhunting-Video-Hit-List.aspx Such a shame; these big bucks wear themselves out in the rut!
sorry to hear about that neal, he looked to have great character. When one buck moves on, theirs always another to move in!
Sorry to hear about this. Atleast you guys were able to find him and not stuck wondering. Best of luck to you guys with the next hit lister.
That is what we were saying yesterday! At least the chapter is finished for this guy. Now - we just need to find his sons!
His antlers were attached (very well) - so we think it was sometime between December/January. We hunted December 18/19 and didn't see him (the spot we found him is close to where we walked). I am thinking it was exhaustion from rut/coyotes/snow? No one rifle hunts out there, but totally a bummer!
That sucks to find a buck you have been after like that but like you two said his son is next. Maybe he has a big brother or even a cousin this year you can chase
