I was out yesterday for an all day sit. Had my target buck I call "Jr." come down the trail 32 yards in front of me. He only gave me a quartering to shot. I wasn't certain about the shot and 5 mins after I shot him it started to rain hard with thunderstorms that was going to wash all the blood away. I shot him at 2:40pm yesterday and decided to wait until this morning to go look. He only ran about 80 yards. It turned out to be a bit of heart and 1 lung. I couldn't of asked for a better shot when it comes to a quartering to shot.

Congrats on the buck. I'd never take a 32 yard quartering to shot on a deer.

I shoot my bow once a week all year long (every Tuesday). I practice out to 60 yards and shoot softball size groups at 60 yards. So a 32 yard shot is not far to me. I will shoot on an animal out to 40 tops. Honestly I was worried about the quartering to shot though....

Awesome!!I don't take those quartering to shots, but I am not a good shot really. Some people can work magic with that, looks like you did. congrats.

Nice buck. Lucky to get him. If you did not knick the heart, you get one lung and stand a very good chance of losing him. There is a good article on the home page of this site right now.

    Why You Shouldn’t Take a Quartering-To Shot
