We all know the show sucked. Let AE Networks know, they own the History Channel.

I agree that the show was put together terribly and overall was a joke.

But lets not kid ourselves here guys, the people on this board are not your average hunters. Your average hunter doesn't think about hunting 365 days a year like nearly all the people on here do. The vast majority of hunters are weekend warriors that only come out as the season opens. Just look at your archery shops just before and just after hunting season opens. Packed with guys just getting ready to hit the woods. Getting bows, arrows, broadheads, etc and not caring about tuning, practicing or making proper shot placement. That's just the archery season. Come to WI during our gun season and you'll see that the public's perception of the stereotypical hunter isn't really that far off.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as a whole, hunters are a pretty pathetic group of people.

 If I had said PA instead of WI, it could have been true.

Ok, maybe pathetic was a little too strong of a word. But, the majority of hunters are beer guzzling, arrow and lead flinging weekend warriors. Where you live, maybe not so much. The dawn of the high dollar leases has eliminated some of those people from the hunting ranks. But, where there's public land, its cheaper to hunt and the "deer camp" tradition mentality still exists the stereotypical hunter is out in full force. Had this show been in a rural setting and not in suburbia, it wouldn't be too far off base for a lot of parts of the country.

Wow, just got done watching the recorded episodes. I won't be setting the option to record series.

History channel has Swamp People, which I do enjoy and watch, why the heck didn't they use that format to try to get into the whitetail hunting world? I think this show is more of an anti-hunting show than anything a hunter would enjoy watching. I swear half the deer they show walk up and pull back on are not the deer they recover.

It just jumped to the top of my list as probably the dumbest series ever attempted and actually makes me forget which show previously held that spot. It won't last through the first season, let alone make a second. I don't even think the nonhunters it seems to be geared towards could watch it more than the first two episodes. The comedy is mediocre at best, the half-wits trying to "act" are hopeless and the actual reflection to hunting is nonexistent. How did the execs at History give this the green light?

Good thing the one guy didn't catch the squirrel. Now that would have been worth watching. :D atleast he won't have to clean the toilet all season. Show won't make it that long.

If anyone is wonder about form, dont watch any of these guys.:what:

How about the shot in the back of the deer walking away. I have passed that shot on much bigger bucks.

Not only is the show put together wrong but they gave out wrong information. This stupid show isnt going to help me get permission to hunt in the burbs of NYC. The only thing they got right is that there is an over abundunce of deer in Westchester and the CT burbs close to NY.

I live and hunt here, and contrary to popular belief, the NYC suburbs (Westchester County NY, Fairfield County Ct.) are, for the most part, not as overrun with deer as people think. The deer that are here are just very visible with all the houses, and they are more comfortable in people's yards than they are back in the wooded areas, making hunting them legally, difficult. I regularly hunt back safely in the woods and when I come out the homeowner reports a herd of deer was on the lawn while I was in the woods. I much prefer heading up north to hunt farm areas, I see way more deer, and bigger bucks too.

Well, I watched both episodes. My initial thoughts are that it's just like any other "reality" show on TV, it's full of drama and staged shots. Not my cup of coffee.

Since its on the History channel, many non-hunters will stumble upon this show and it could leave a bad taste in their mouth. The public perception of hunting, deer hunting and bowhunting as a result could hurt us hunters.

If this show was on the Sportsman Channel or Outdoor Channel, at least a targeted hunter audience would see it which would lead to less non-hunter backlash. That's what concerns me. Not us hunters talking about it.

It's entertainment, these guys aren't billing themselves as Stan Potts. These guys are more like the slobs that make up most of our ranks.

It's not a great show if you're looking to see a "hunting show", but I honestly don't think they are billing it as such. It's something different, it's no DD either but I don't think it's trying to be either.

The drama created on this forum by judging this stupid show is almost as bad as the show.... and now I'm part of it. We all sound like a bunch of gals in a hair salon! Who gives a ****. I think that even the non hunting public know a dumb reality show when they see one. The hunting tradition is strong in the US and I think it always will be. I don't think anyone needs to worry about a bad rap for hunters caused by this show.

So you're jealous that a guy is using the angle of pest removal to gain permission ?

I must not watch enough TV. I've never even heard of this. I won't pass too much judgement since I didn't even watch the link posted initially in the other thread.

I will say this. If it made it to a major network airtime, take it for what it's worth. Entertainment. Duck Dynasty is entertaining. Is it scripted? Absolutely. Is it representative of the hunting community, particularly waterfowl hunters? Probably not. I'm not really sure what everyone wants in terms of actual representation of our sport on television. Either the shows are too trashy and portray hunters in a bad light, or they're too elitist and/or artsy (i.e. Cam Haines, Heartland Bowhunter, Fencepost Films, etc.).
