The new piece of property I am hunting this year has fencing along the south side of the property, and just on the other side of it is 2 of the neighbors stands. I was thinking about hinge cutting trees along the property line to make our land feel a little more secluded and to make it a little more known that there is a new Owner in the area. My question is, Do any of you Hinge cut for seclusion of your property?
Hinge cutting is something we've done a ton of and it is the #1 property tool for landowners. For the purpose of line blocking or natural fence line hinging is more than applicable and we've done it. However, think long term if the neighbor's have similar ideas on deer management it may be a lot more beneficial to keep the line free depending on surrounding terrain and hunting styles of the neighbor's. Hinging a property line can cause some strained relationships between you and neighbor's and in our case it was a last resort due to to trespassing and poaching. All that said a little buffer hinging to control some movement along that border is never a bad thing either way.
