It was brought up in another thread that an arrow with higher FOC will drop faster at 35+ yards than the lower FOC arrow of the same overall weight. This defies what I know about physics so I decided to test some arrows with my sons bow, mainly because I had arrows that I could get matched weight wise for his bow.

His arrow is an Axis 600 with 75 grain brass inserts and 100 grain points with a total weight of 385 grains with 19.3% FOC.

The other arrow I used was an FMJ with standard HIT inserts and 100 grain points and weigh 385 grains. The FOC on these was 13%.

The diameter on both arrows was .003 difference. Not a factor

To be fair,in the other thread it was mentioned there was 15% difference in FOC but I still can't see it.

The top arrow in all pics is actually the higher foc arrow and smaller diameter but it is also the longer arrow. Factor,I don't know but just giving all info.

Looks like they are fishtailing to me, different angles for each arrow.

Man thats good to know! Because Im going to change my set up around a bit so that I have a higher FOC and was worried about that. It will be a bit heavier but knowing this there shouldnt be to much of a change. I was worried because I have 1 pin for 0-30 yards and didnt want to change that! lol. Thanks for the info!

T good stuff there. Im glad you decided to test it out. I re-tested it out as well, and found the same results as you did, that they hit the same within reason. Not sure what it was about the first time awhile back with that first set. I never disagreed with you, because it did defy the laws of physics and baffled me too. There must have been another factor that was not the same in the original findings.

Thats an awfull lot of arrow drop between 45 and 50.......I've seen this myself with the same results when i was playin around with a higher FOC you wouldn't think it would do what it does , but it does

Considering most bows have a drop of 1" per yard at 40+ yards. Considering his bow is at 45# and is shooting 218 fps is I dont think that is much arrow drop at all.

You do realize the bottom arrow has the lower foc?

The point is to show the foc doesn't matter, the overall weight is the determining factor.
