His goal at 17 isn't really "learning", especially if he is dropping out, it is looking good and showing his potential. The NBA Draft is all about potential, and who looks like they will make a better basketball player, a kid scoring 10 ppg overseas or a kid scoring 20 ppg in college as a dominant post man, possibly making a deep run in the tourney.

Winning and loosing in the meantime shouldn't matter to him, imo....that kind of ties into what I am saying. YES he knows how to win, at this point he needs to be a star, and prove he has potential for the next level....If he shines, on either overseas OR college, it will make him MILLIONS more in the long run (even as soon as his rookie year) than if he appears mediocre on either the overseas or college level.

I agree, if he goes over there and TRULY stands out as a top player in the league, then his draft stock will remain high and he will have a few hundred grand in his pocket (which 2 years from then will be change to him). BUT, if he does NOT look like a star, he hurt his chances by not staying and looking like a star in the NCAA.

Not to mention the personal life aspect of it, what Junior in highschool truly wants to move to europe to hang out with a bunch of guys twice his age?

Agree to disagree I guess, cause I will NEVER be convinced that a 17 yo with his current potential making this move is a smart one.
