It'll be next year, hopefully. And public.

    Small updates.

-My buddy has been trying to get me to hunt his property with him. Still undecided, but we checked his cams this past weekend and there were several 120+ deer showing up consistently.

-Did check one camera on my main property. It was pretty disappointing with most of the bucks disappearing.

-Got out to Ohio last weekend to hang some cameras. They'll soak for a month and then I'll go check/hunt.

-I just bought another ladder stand, so I'll be hanging that up on my main property this weekend.

-Also need to finish trimming up a creek for me to access a few of my stands.

Little behind this year, but I should be finished this weekend and be able to keep out until opening day.

What zone are you going to hunt? A buddy of mine is hunting public this year and I got info for him on public land around the farms we hunt down there.

NC season opens in the morning. Hope to at least harvest a doe. Cameras are not showing much in the prospect of bucks. There are some nice six points but where I hunt they have to have at least four on one side and preferably eight points.

I was out last night. I had a doe feeding down the tree line toward me and then some idiot came blowing down the road to the river revving his engine and spinning his wheels. The WMA that I am hunting on during the week is small, like 100 acres on the side I was on and about 60 on the other side. For some reason people feel the need to drive in right at prime time. I'm half way expecting to hear a gun shot one of these nights. I'm going back in the morning, but then will go up to the private land that I have permission to hunt in the afternoon.

I just got in from my morning sit. I got surprised by a doe and fawn that made it across the field I am set up on without me noticing them. They busted me, but the fawn still had spots, so I didn't bother trying to draw. Then ten minutes later I had 3 does and 2 fawns go by at about 50 yards. Then, just before I got down I saw another doe. I was on her and ready to shoot, but then I saw she was the same doe with the spotted fawn from earlier so I passed again. When I got back to the car I saw two yearlings cross the road from some private land onto the WMA. I considered trying to sneak closer and try to take one of them, but decided against it. I will be back out this afternoon.

I just saw that you had a new post and my first thought was that you had tagged out. I was getting ready to be jealous.

Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I got a doe down tonight. The bad news is that I failed my species identification test and shot a mule deer. That is bad cuz I had to put my A tag (aka buck tag) on her, so I can't shoot a buck now. I will post pics and details in the am.

Jake we are hunting in zone 4 about middle of the state from east to west and down by the Missouri border. My buddy is going to be hunting those couple of public land spots by us during the rut. I will let you know how he does and what he thinks of the spots and how much pressure they get.
