No problem at all. I agree with you. Shoot whatever arrows they want, it makes no difference to me. I guess the question is......Why spend all that cash on a top end bow and top end accessories, and buy the cheapest arrows you can get? I hear what you're saying and I'm not condeming anyone for doing so. But I can tell you this. Of the few friends of mine that HAVE taken that advice.........Everyone of them has been simply amazed at how much their shooting improved. They simply didn't realize the difference it truly made until they bit the bullet and bought good arrows.
I'm going to buy some top of the line arrows....but I want to be able to say.."yeah, my group went from 2 inches to 1 inch...." instead of..."I think they really look cool...." LOL SB
How tight do your groups have to be for hunting? I'm not hunting field mice, baseball sized groups at 25 yards will kill deer all day long. Signed, A cheap arrow flinger :D
Like I said earlier.......if you've never shot good, quality arrows....you don't know what you're missing. Honestly, I don't care what anyone shoots. I just do not understand spending top dollar for top end gear, and shooting cheap arrows. Why do we spend top dollar for top shelf stuff?? I mean, we can take this conversation to many, many different places and I think maybe some feel like I've stepped on their toes. I absolutely, positively do not condemn anyone for shooting whatever arrow they want. ALL I am saying is....I don't get it. Guys will come in and spend $1200 for top shelf bow, sights, and rest.......and skimp on the arrows. The point isn't whether or not a cheap arrow will kill a deer. Hell, a .22 will kill one if you hit it right. The point isn't about how tight your groups are or aren't. As I've mentioned....I'm shooting arrows that are $80/dozen. CERTAINLY not expensive. But they are high quality arrows. .001 straightness and consistent spine. I never said anywhere in this post that one must spend several hundred dollars if they want to avoid a cheap arrow. And hey, if you're happy enough just plunking around in the backyard and "killing deer all day long".....go for it. I'm certainly not going to tell you that you're wrong. I know not everyone is fortunate enough to work "in the business" and not have to pay retail price for everything. I get that. I know exactly how lucky I am to be able to spend 30% less than the average joe customer. What I suggest to my customers, and friends, is to get the best arrows they can afford. But arrows are just not where you want to cut corners. I would rather spend 30 bills less on a rest, and 30 bills less on a sight and get better arrows. The sight isn't what goes downrange, neither is the rest. If given the choice between a high dollar drop away rest and $40/dozen arrows, or a $30 rest and $120 arrows.......That's the route I'm going.
Haven't read the whole thread, but I see where Mobow is coming from. It's not a matter of budget arrows not doing the job (heck, man killed just fine with whittled arrows for 100s of years), but more or less, why spend so much money on the outfit, and skimp on one of the most important components? If you're spending $1000+ on an outfitted bow, you can probably stretch the extra $40-$60 for a good dozen arrows.
Nope, the best "budget arrow" out there is right here..... http://www.cabelas.com/link-12/pod/0004537.shtml .003 straightness, pretty tough, and fly pretty consistent as well. The two arrow "mating" in my avatar are a couple of several that met that same fate, and I seriously don't shoot groups that often. To me what's also "comforting" is that they are MADE IN THE USA!!! Just my biased opinion, but when I'm picking them up for $52/doz raw or $60/doz fletched (got a dozen "Blazered" on sale) and cut to my specifications, I don't think you can beat them. So I suppose you could consider me "GUILTY AS CHARGED."
