I am just getting back into bow hunting and little by little I will have some questions I need clarified. The first one to start with right now is, how high should I hang my tree stands?? Some of the bow hunting shows I have seen so far looks like the stands are waaaay up in the trees. But I am sure that has a lot to do with the camera angle also. Thanks for your help, dropem123.
hi mate, welcome to the forum, how high i hang my stand depends on the terrain and the tree really. I try for 18 to 20ft generally
Welcome to the site! All my stands are set situationally. Ideally around 15-20, but as low as 9' and as high as 30'. The deer, terrain & hanging tree dictate how high for me.

Welcome to Bowhunting.com! As far as your question goes on treestand height it pretty much can depend on the tree you select, the back ground cover, wind direction, etc. as to how high to go. You may decide to sit on the ground, get 10-12 ft. high, or climb over 20 ft. if the back ground cover warrants it. For me I pretty much only look at ladder stands that are over 17 ft. any more. If I am using a climbing stick I only buy 20 ft. one's and usually go to the top for a hang-on. If I need to get a little higher I have strap on climbing sections that can get me further than that. Using my climbing treestand it depends on the terrain, how much cover, etc. and have found myself anywhere from 18-30 ft. high. In Ohio with some of the hills and valleys I could be 30 ft. in a tree and still be eye level to where the deer would be crossing by.
