New member and new Archer! At the ripe age of 43 I've decided to take up archery hunting. I rifle hunted for many years but haven't hunted at all for about 10 years. I taught my son to hunt, when he was young. Now that he's hunting archery, it's time for him to teach me! For Father's Day, my kids all combined their resources and purchased me a used Matthews SQ2! Now I have about 3 months to prepare for my first archery hunt!!
Welcome to the site and addiction. If you enjoyed rifle hunting, wait till you get a load of this!! This is the place to be. Tons of knowledge and advice floating around here from great folks.
Thank you all so much!! I look forward to all the LEARNING I'm about to receive, from such a great site! Now I've gotta get more shooting practice in...PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! I live in Spokane, WA and my daily shooting practice is limited to about 30 yards, in my back yard. Luckily, our back yard has a large 50' hill, at the base of which I can set my target. So far, my shooting has been limited to 20 yards, while I get my form and technique down. I'm shooting several sets of 3 in the morning hours, and again in the evening hours. I'm waking up sore every morning...lol
Well, here's some photos I thought I'd share. It's time for me to aim at a different spot with each arrow... Here's a group from yesterday at 30 yards...first 3 arrows of the day. Here's today, from 20 yards, first 3 arrows of the day. I've heard of people "Robbin Hooding" arrows and I've even seen one person do it...however, I figured it'd never happen to me. Unfortunately, this almost new arrow is completely destroyed. I haven't taken the 2 arrows apart yet to see if the other arrow is also destroyed. I figured I'd ask opinions first. Is there any chance that the second arrow is still good? If so, I'll separate the two. If not, I'll keep them together.
