How is every one? Im knew here. I have been shooting, and owning guns all my life. I have never been hunting but its been a dream of mine. Literally all of my family hunts. I have just been a worker (had a full time job at 12) and
    no real time to play.

I Have a few chances to go now. Last night a bought a older compound bow. A Fred Bear signature series (black
bear) 60 lb draw. Its a decent old bow just not real modern. It has new strings and cams. Do you think this will be a decent starter bow for deer this year? It might need some work, the paint on the pin sights is wore off, the
peep sight slides up and down in the draw string and it has no D loop for a mechanical release... (he i got it for
    next to nothing lol)

Can someone send me on a path to decent arrows and tips? I cant break the bank im also raising a 9 month old
    boy lol...

Im so exited to go this year. Just need a little kick on the right path!

Oh im from MN by the way west of the cities

I shoot a 14 year old Bear Super Strike XLR. I Can shoot 3 inch groups at 30 yards. Your bow will be fine. Just get a nock, 6-12 carbon express arrows and some rage broadheads. And you can re paint the pins on your sight.

Welcome to the site Driver :tu:

Where west of the Cities do you live. My wife grew up in Norwood Young America.

Most carbon arrows would work just fine. Infact, for begining, I'd go cheap, as you might burn through them. As you get some time under your belt, you can decide how much you want to invest into arrows.

Since you asked...Suzy at work is being a total B! She is telling everyone I slept with Joe. Thats totally not true! I mean, we had a little drunk make out season, but it did NOT go any further. How does this always happen to me when I drink box wine? Anyway, Suzy is just mad because Joe thinks I'm hot. She totally wants to hook up with him. Too bad she's fat. Thats not my fault. Plus this customer called today and was being totally annoying. I'm like, hello, I'm trying to chat on Facebook! OMG! Like I care about her problem. Ugh! This is the worst day ever...for reals.

You'll be fine. The carbon arrows and the rage broadheads (you may want to go with the 1.5 inch 2-blade) are a great start. The important thing is to practice and know what you are capable in the field. Do you have anyone around to help you out?

Yes I do. Ill be going with my cousin and father in law. Both life long bow hunters. I was just trying to get a jump
on my learning. And get others opinions on here :) I am finding out, theres a lot more to this than slamming a bolt
home and squeezing off a round on a rifle lol.

I never got my gun safety (another reason Im going bow my 1st year) cert so i cant firearm hunt yet. But I went
to the local shop in town here and talked with him and checked out arrows and tips and what not. He wont even sell me any deer tags with out gun safety. So on to somewhere else kinda pisses me off some people are so anal in this sport.
