Ouch for justin. He's just in a dry spell. We've all had them. I'm predicting he's going to make a come back in a big way.

As for JZ....as tough as it seems I think JZ gives more to the show than Todd (don't ban me...oh shoot he'll never see this). JZ shows that you can have the ground, have the equipment...shoot even see the bucks you are after and it still not come together. Honestly, his approach to each season and his willingness to air failure is a huge asset to the show....granted he probably doesn't view it worth enough to keep it going :)

I applaud the occasional Show on BHOD where the hunt doesn't end in a Kill that's hunting and it keeps it real.....Especially for the new initiate hunters out there who watch most Prime time shows and have begun to believe that all you have to do is go out and hang a stand on a trail and Magically old Mossy Horns walks out. Keep Doing what you do guys I'll watch every one I can.

I said the above 100% joking which can be hard to tell in a forum I know, I should have thrown in an LOL or smiley face thing. Justin has an awesome sense of humor (one of the main reasons I enjoy the show so much) and I knew he could handle my little jab and laugh it off. Heck he makes fun of himself on the show. I watch every episode and know full well that he passes 130's regularly and doesn't take marginal shots on bigger deer that many would because he is an ethical bowhunter also I think he's got a young family that'll limit time in the stand for sure. My comment was all in good fun. I also said it cause I knew he would read this as I believe he is the moderator of the forum. I agree this show stands out above the rest because of the educational aspect, which heavily relies upon showing negative hunting outcomes for whatever the reason, as well as the two hosts are very entertaining and exceptional bowhunters. Keep it up Todd and Justin!

I wonder if Todd has issues hitting the bottle with the goggles on......

Todd, ever get it on your hands? Dribble on the jeans? Maybe JZ holds it for him.... I bet thats it! He already wears around his poo :)

Sorry just trying to keep this thread on track. We went from peeing in stand to washing balls....

I heard Justin pees in water balloons and uses them as piss bombs. The deer love it.

It probably will not hurt but I prefer not too if I can help it. Another reason is I have horrible luck. If I peed I would probably be caught with my junk in my hand by the biggest buck I have ever seen.. So its a no go for me.

I don't relieve myself in my hunting areas. If I have to go...I do just that, I go and leave the area or use a bottle for #1. I have no definitive answer either way but I don't put myself in a situation that I will regret with mature bucks roaming my hunting sites.

I generally try to stay "regular" and in a situation where I don't have problems while in the stand anyway. Besides I'm used to long hours on equipment and not taking bathroom breaks so I don't usually have unexpected urges while hunting.

I try to not even walk near a scrape that I'm hunting near. big bucks will definitely smell where you have walked. or they will be laying in there bed watching over their scrape watching you piss in their scrape and never hit it again because you have now added pressure to his domain. as for peeing on stand I might do it once but not twice. I found when I was hunting in Kansas I was peeing in the same spot daily and I started to see less deer every day. til I was seeing nothing at all. I think over time it creates such a strong ammonia smell the deer notice the unnatural smell and know something is up. I make sure the day before I do not drink any thing with caffeine or high sugar contents. as both will cause you to urinate a lot. drink water only and you will not have to go as much and it will quench your thirst much faster.

here is a saying a guy told me with all aspects of hunting: "If you like the success you are currently having then keep doing what you are currently doing. if you are unhappy with your success then you better change your ways."

Pee or no pee.....if you hunt the same area day after day, you will very likely see fewer deer.

Good call. I am a ceffeine junky so I pee often. I think it is too much for the stand cause I will go several times (I feel like i'm talking to my dr.). Plus it's noisy as heck when it hits the leaves below. For that reason alone I'm thinking about bottling it up. By next season I hope to have quit caffeine, I can't just have a little. Perhaps they are smelling the sweets in my pee cause I drink a lot of pop? Anybody know if it's true that different kinds of foods and drinks you consume beforehand could affect the smell of your pee differently? I've heard it's true but don't remember who said it.

Most if not all hunters whether they realize it or not fall into religous patterns of behaviour that we learn over time. call them habits or what you will but most of the good habits such as scent control can mean the difference between seeing that once in a lifetime buck that almost never comes around or not. I also realize that alot of Deer are killed during rut when all Bucks are thinking about is the smell of DOE'S In HEAT and that is a Urine smell so since I'm not a Urologist or a wildlife Biologist I will stick with the Habits taught to me by my Grandfather,Father,Uncles, and older Brother. They haven't steered me wrong yet I have given away Deer almost every year i hunted maybe not Booner Bucks but i still fill tags.

This thread was successful in my mind, although maybe pushed the limits at times. I'm surprised to see the amount of people who let it fly I figured most would bottle it up being just too concerned of possible outcomes. The minority seem to bottle it up but I think I'll go this route for a while cause I'll always wonder "what if" (I have been wondering that the last few years) if I have many unsuccessful (eating my buck tag) seasons. Thanks for the contributions and feel free to keep them coming.

In my opinion, the deer that guys think are having a negative reaction to pee have likely smelled them or seen something they don't like. I have honestly never had a single deer act even the least bit concerned about the smell of my urine. In fact, I have shot several that were smelling or licking it at the time. This includes some very mature bucks that were not rutted up. My reference comes from literally hundreds of experiences as I have let it fly from the stand for over 30 years. In my opinion, urine is urine. There are hundreds of critters peeing in the deer woods every day. If deer were alarmed by the smell of urine, they would all die from stress.

That being said, I am kind of a wuss.....so maybe my urine smells like a doe. :p

I used to know a guy who followed the old thinking that he didn't eat meat before a hunt because he didn't want his pee smelling like a carnivore. If that's the case I must smell Irish because I have been known to have a Guinness the evening before the first day :) .
