I got a new app for my Saga phone. WMWifiRouter, I can turn my phone into a wireless access point using 3G(BroadBand Access).

If I had a wirless(IP based) web cam battery powered. Could I broadcast a "live" hunt? In theory I think I could.

Have you guys thought of doing this instead of filming? All you would need is a web cam and a phone. With 4G coming out the bandwidth should be improved.

Just thinking in my tree the other night

My question would be where would you broadcast it to? I would think you would have to have it return to a host computer which would then broadcast to the hosted website. If configured this way it might work. The problem then becomes quality from the webcam. They don't do very well in low light and their quality is not great. However, if you could find one that is designed for outdoor use it may be worth a go.

    Correct I would need a host server, I am a software guy:p

We need a server hosting the live feed
Web cam that works well in low light
Phone(smart phone) can be a wirless access point

    What else do we need?

At my place I could do a line of sight wireless netowrk. Hang the attena on my tree and the receiver at the farm house. We have a cable modem, this would solve the bandwidth issue. We could hook a handycam hooked to the laptop and have it feed the host server.

I'm not following why you need the handycam hooked to the host server? You would need some sort of software to receive the transmitted video. Something like MS's OCS or a Skype-like program.

Bry can you build me a host web server? If we did the wireless hot spot route you could server the cam from your house I believe.

Can I build a web host server? Sure. Can I host a website streaming video to the Internet? Nope. At least not without bumping up my FIOS service to a business plan that would be a lot more than I am paying now.

the best way to do that would be to use a netbook as your Mobile machine, running a Sony HD handycam or a Logitec 9000 webcam. the logitec probably has way better low light tranmission. Then use your phone as the router, and take it to the server from there. With teh display off on the netbook and closed, you would probably bet close to 4 hours of cam time

Thing is Germ, do our lives suck so bad that we would sit glued to a screen on a live feed watching NOTHING. :D Or in your case, a domestic cat! :D

Just kidding buddy. In theory it sounds interesting but several hour hunts, who would be the audience. I'll wait for the edited version.

Edit: I guess I should have read RJ's reply. Too funny.
