I went out today to listen for some turkeys gobblin so I can get a pattern on where exactly these birds are roosting. I decided to move my game cam while their and as I rounded the woodline towards my cam I saw turkeys at the other end of the field. I sat down and snapped a bunch of pics, they aren't magazine quality, but for not having a tripod and snapping the pics at around 300 yards I am pretty happy. There were two different gobblers, one had a pretty nice beard, I would guess around the 9" mark, the other was noticeably bigger, I would guess upwards of the 11" mark. They were hangin out with two hens and all four kept popping in and out of the thick brush, made it hard to keep track on them. I also got about 15 minutes of video of these birds, I might try to upload some tomorrow. If I have some time, I am going to be sitting in my blind tomorrow evening in a patch of brush about 70 yards from where these birds were strutting. I figure that I should be able to get some really good pics/video then.
Great shots! I had 7 deer and 3 hens within 200 yards this evening . . and left my camera in the truck
Thanks guys Matt, the big flock that is on the property is breaking up now. There are two large pieces of the farm that are divided by a road and the flock will break up into different sections. Usually they will group up in 4 different areas. I know where these two birds are hanging out, now I gotta check two of the other areas and see what birds are hanging out in those spots.
