Well, the story ends for this buck today. A guy that hunts the neighboring property shot him with a rifle this morning while checking cameras. I know this guy and glad he got him instead of a road hunter.
Finch I wish all met stories of bucks they know dying with such grace as you! (shoot I wish I did all the time as well haha!)
After this evening's hunt, I've already forgotten about him. Had a tall racked buck come out of the thicket doing the zig zag on a doe's trail. Never could get him any closer than 50-60 yards. Sometimes I wish I could gun hunt this property. Patience, perseverance, and countless hours does not look good on my trophy wall!
Hang in there Donnie. I few nice bucks made it through rifle season here. We did lose 3 real nice ones to road hunters in my hunting area. I am going out swinging though until the end of season. Probably freeze my arse off but one of the nice ones is going to take a ride in the back of my truck. Still have hopes that Britney gets her first bow buck also over her Xmas break from school.
