I actually felt that I had a lot t offer, in the way of photography. Been doing a lot of sports/outdoor photography for the past ten years or so. Good camera, better lenses, etc., but..........I don't feel that you are very receptive to criticism or help.

Nikon D3300. I'm only beginner level. I'm looking for any recommendations on a potrait lense. Obviously, not professional grade. Something for a starting out kit.

It's painfully obvious you're not a professional photographer...but, anything worth doing is worth doing right is it not. I assumed since you bothered to post about it that you're interested in taking the hobby (or whatever) seriously...apologies if you're happy continuing to do it terribly and are happy with it.

Sorry if the technical jargon is above your pay grade son. I was a graphic arts major and I guess I didn't realize you were a neanderthal trying to take photos with a flintstones style stone camera wit ha flash that was activated by a lizard with it's tail under a button as an activation switch.

Your buddy is tickled with the photo because you're a "buddy" and he and his family don't want to hurt your feelings and honestly that deer isn't a big enough deal to make a fuss over if they weren't happy with the pic.

Tough conditions? Really? The deer was dead, the buddy wanted the pics, what was the rush? Anyone interested in doing it right will take the time to figure out how to do it well. Excuses won't make you a better photographer.

No one can give you technical advice out of the clear blue, I have not seen you post anything (maybe I missed it) about what camera/lens and equipment you are using.

The sensitivity is annoying. It takes awhile to realize there's a lot of ball busters on this forum but just relax. You asked for opinions and that's what you're getting.

If you want the deer the focal point of the first picture, blur the guy out to the point of seeing just an outline. That's what I would like.

Not a fan of the turkey photo. It's a unnatural look for the person to look up. Not a fan of the flowers IF it had nothing to do with the location of the kill. I like backdrops that has the habitat/terrain features the hunter was in.

To add... If you want to get better at photography don't go to bowhunting forum. Hunting photographers are photographers. It starts with knowing your camera. Angles and focal points are forms of art that each photographer has to create in their own ways.

Get some inspiration from hunting photographers on instagram. There are a ton! All have their unique way of capturing a hunt/kill.

He is blurred more than I would like. Night shots are tough. I read that photography the art of light. Not a lot of light at night.

I was trying really hard to get the stars to show up. That is really tough. And in something like a portrait. I can live with the blur of the hunter for getting the stars. I don't think you can have both. The deer is in good focus. Overall pleased with the photo.

I hope you see what has me frustrated. This guy downloads my photo and then uses it as his avatar in a childish attempt to troll me. I knew from the start he had nothing to add that would be any value. Hopefully, that gives my attitude towards him some context. See the rest of his trolling comments as well.

    K. Last of that. Moving on. Ignore mode for the trolls.

Im no photographer.. I just play with settings until I get pictures that I kinda like. But I also dont take pictures for other people. I have played with long exposures and flash ppl or objects into the photo or use a small flash and ghosted people in. I think the thing I had the most fun with was taking ppl out of photos. I have taken my camera to Magic Kingdom in Disney and set up on main street and take a long exposure and take everyone out of the picture. I could only get it to work if no one was standing still for very long or sitting tho but I thought it was cool. I cant help so much with specific settings as I just play around with my camera. I do know that good glass isnt cheap and I dont have any!

That and good photo editing software helps and I dont have that either!

I don't think he was trying to troll you, I believe it was a joke. I can't stop laughing at it myself. Wash the sand out of your vagina and loosen up. you came to a bowhunting forum and are posting about photography for crying out loud. I would venture to guess if you wantd some credible advice on photography that there are many better venues than a bowhunting site full of redneck bowhunters.

Life coaches full of advice here. Photos of hunting on a hunting forum. Dat don't make no sense now. Where's the WT* button? Haha. Something to practice quipping too in between the lull of something to do with the actual thread.

Thanks for the fatherly advice. I'm not over here fomenting over it all. Just killing time typing. Thanks for the concern. Battling a sarcasm addiction. These guys make it tough to control it. Might have to fall off the wagon for the LULz.

Anyone have a photo to share?
