Canon XA10, Audio Technia pro 88 wireless mics, Audio Technia 875R short shotgun mic and wind screen. 2 SDHC ultra high speed media cards. Campbells camo skins and Campbells small carry bag. Manfroto 701 fluid head. The arm is home made from aluminum. Doing some reading up on the cam, got some learning to do. I have Campbells mic mount but might switch to something a little flatter, kinda sticks up a bit!
Sweet set up Blood! that camera is gona lay down some sweet footage. I question about your arm, how are you locking your base to the tree? looks like if you swing it out it will roll on you? let me know Im actually working on a smaller arm as we speek, and am allways lookin to improve each arm I make.
Thanks man,,Its ALOT like the third arm. It has both leveling sysyems but the pic dosent show it very well. It does kick a little but its not the right strap. I need the 2" strap with a good wratchet to really sinch it down. The strap on it now was just to get some pics, other that that it does great!
Looks like a killer little setup! Id be courious to see what you think about your shotgun mic as i was pondering purchasing that one as well! Also gotta love the lost camo Skins
Yea I see you copied the third arm, I have allways wondered the same thing about theirs. I would say 4 spiked pins on the corners of the base would lock would into the tree. That base has to be rock solid you will be operating the camera with one arm it cant slip at all or you lost the shot if your self filmin. The arm Im making now will be copy of the lone wolf (base and leveling) but I want a muddy pin attachment for the arm, so I can lock in the base and then attach arm. This will cut down on bulk (2 peice) and be more packable. This year was hell carriying in everything every hunt. Stand, camera, camera arm, bow, and pack.
Thanks guys! UP--we think alike LOL The back plate has 2 V'S top and bottom to fit to the tree but I was thinking about doing some cutting on them to give all 4 corners the pin you speak of. should dig better. That with the proper strap should do me good. QUESTION for all that self film. Give me tips on proper height in relation to body when sitting down. Tell me what you know, Im ready to learn!
I was toying with it today, Its amazing what little sounds it picks up! Gonna be cool when it picks up leaf crunching sounds under a Deer's hooves
Waist height when standing will be about shoulder height when sitting. When you set up turn the camera on run your zoom to about 80% out put the camera into manual and leave it. This will keep you manually focused right into your tree, if it gets somewhat blurry as your swinging on the deer put it into auto and it should stay locked in on the deer for the shot. You have alot of memory with that camera and what you bought shoot everything, tell a story. Last year I was running a tape camera and I was stingy with filmin, this year I wont be. If you dont like it just delete it. As much as I dont like to you have to have a list of things to shoot right after you shoot a deer, drawing, aiming, grabbing your bow, little things to tell the story. I hate reinactments, but you have to do a little of it when self filmin. Your in for a great year bud, you WILL miss some opertunities due to the challange you just put on yourself, but when it comes together it cool! Who did you deal with at Campbells?
Thanks for taking the time to type that. good tips and is appreciated. I got alot of it from Campbells but some from other places. Campbells are great guys to talk to and I just found out its not to far from me. They even said they know Justin
I really need some field time before I can honestly say! I dont think I need much more for Bowhunting as im rarely hunting around large openings. mine is all done in the big woods! where filming will be tight any way!
Aaah stuff like this keeps making me want to justify the expensive (for me) leap into filming my own hunts....awesome set up!
Yeah it was expensive for me also! I made my mide up that I was going to make it happen some how. I had some Christmas money stashed, won a couple Nascar pools last year, sold all my weight equip since I go to a gym now any way, sold some hunting things, alot of engraved Rocks and other things on E-bay,,sold my body twice and after that kept the money left over from selling all the other things and bought the equip :p
That's an awesome setup man. You really went the extra mile. I hope you get everything up and running smoothly, good luck to you.
