No, I think if you're going to be honored we should at least have some standards. I like the Babe Ruth anology. Babe liked to drink and party it up, he also is known for helping kids. Babe would help kids, LT has sex with them. You got me on the RRod
Well, being honored as a football player, the standard is kicking ass on the feild. Now the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, that is what your reffering to Germ
Pete Rose is a guy who should be in the Hall Of fame IMO, he did not hurt anyone else but himself. His family was hurt also, but that is Pete's business.
Depends... If i had a Daughter old enough to make her own decisions then what can "I" do about it? Hes a 41 year old celebrity athlete. Your argument makes NO sense Germ. facts: Brett Favre sent picks of his Danny Woodhead to a supermodel. Brett Favre deserves to be in the Hall of Fame because he is the most accomplished Quarterback to ever walk the earth. What my hypothetical daughter does with him has nothing to do with it.
Pretty simple to me, Halls of Fame should be for performances on the field or ice. Who cares if the person was a nice guy. If you want a to start a role model hall of fame, then open one up and it can be made up of all nice guys, who may or may not have been any good at anything else.
I think as adults (most adults) we can differentiate right from wrong - Correct? As children, as well as adults, get marketed into the sports realm, this is were I get worried... Logically, for myself ,I don't give a rats behind about what they do off the field or after their careers. I can't say every little boy or girl won't get influenced though Ask this question to yourself after you get another 10-15 years of age and a couple of kids... Whats your Dad's take???
I'm guessing if today's media existed in Babe's playing days, we would know a LOT more not-so-good things about him.
