They are all limited. Welfare is pretty much cut and dried from what I have seen. As far as farm aid, at least farms provide to the national food supply, what kind of investment is financial support of generational slackers?
Yeah I agree .farmers provide food and they are out there working. I am not talking about all farmers or farmers in general. I want to make that clear before anyone gets pissed off........ But there are some that have just milked the farm program....... There are big farmers around here that have got millions over the span of a few years. They put stuff in several different names to get all they can get.........List farms under several corporate name. ....Sons, daughters employees They made more off the govt farm bill than actually off the farm To me this is wrong.
Iv seen this too. I have both an associate and bachelors degrees in my career field. I work in my chosen career for a state govt agency. When I started the job I was making less than what it costs the state to house a convict for a year. That really chapped my ***, but at the same time I was paying my own bills and proud of it.
Fox did that thing on the surfer kid collecting welfare with no intension of ever getting a job. My nephew does the same. He thinks he's cool being an under achiever. WTH
I agree drug testing is the first step to cutting down the people on welfare. Im all for feeding the children and taking care of the elderly, but all these people with 6 kids and no jobs getting foodstamps and section 8 are killing the country.
I'm the Leasing Coordinator for the Public Housing. It's a very frustrating job. There are some that need it but more that are taking advantage of the system. We do what we can to prevent it but we are limited.
"The best social program is a job." - Ronald Reagan I've heard of people turning down full-time hours because they can collect government money if they stay at part time hours, now THAT is what I call a scam. Additionally, Obamacare is forcing companies to push people down to temporary workers so they aren't forced into providing benefits. The problem is, people are too concerned about what they think they deserve, and not enough about what they've earned. I think it's a parenting problem, I think it's a college education problem, and it sure doesn't help that government is the enabler.
I wasn't going to chime in on this thread because I might get banned if I really speak my mind. James I agree with you yo a point. I don't mind taking care of the elderly so such as long as we are not talking about SS. Because that is not an entitlement we pay into to that and probably loose money in the process. As for the children yes they need to be fed but I was taught if you can't afford them don't have them. Some where along the line some dumba$$ said we need to take care of all these kids that have absent dads and mothers with no education. Seriously who would think this was a good idea it just breeds dependency. I would rather see the money go into the education system and teach these people a trade or something.
So, if you are being paid welfare by the government, shouldn't you work for them? Since welfare isn't going away, maybe new jobs need to be created out of it. Such as, picking up trash along roadways for 8 hours a day, cleaning up neighborhood graffiti, cleaning up trash in waterways, drug testing system for those on welfare, or working at other various activities to help neighborhoods that other working people usually have to volunteer at to get done. As many people as there are that sit home and draw a check, there should be enough to make a very strong workforce.
But, but then you're taking away jobs from convicts! Not to mention it's demeaning! (tons of sarcasm in voice) The drug testing has been tried in Florida. Not that many people were caught and the courts finally stepped in and told Florida to shut it down. If memory serves, they also had to reinstate benefits taken away and reimburse any money taken from those who tested positive. I think the above ideas should be implemented in every state. I'm all for drug testing. My employer requires any potential employee to pass a drug screening. If we are in an accident on the job, we are subject to a drug/alcohol test. No harm in asking those who continually suck off the goberment teat to do the same!
