Hendrix was great, I not knocking him only that he learned what he did by watching others, And recording them in clubs and taking notes like at the filmore club. max, you gotta check out valleys of neptune - red house! it my fav rendition of the song. i really liike seeing artists take from other artists and do their own thing with it, or ever try and do the same thing. i think most good artists will tell you that they bit something from here, mixed it with a taste of something there and twirled it around to make xyz.
isaiah i have the cd, bought it at last years Hendrix reunion concert, (Jimmy) of course was a no show..lol but some of his friend's did. and your right red house is done very well ,kind of slowed down and more of a blues vibe and i loved it.
I was at the FOX in st.louis, I brought my son for music appreciation night. Good times, kenny wayne shepard stole the show and brought the house down. This young man has got it.
KWS was the highlight as well in the Chi. i did think the singer(not from living colour) was a bit much and tried to make it all about himself. deff not Hendrix-like at all. Jimi would rather sing the least amount possible
