Deer are already eating my food plot and the soy beans are only about 4 inches tall. Does any one know of any tricks to keep deer out until the plants reach maturity?

plotsaver looks like just what i am looking for.

Fitz i am not complaining... I am glad to be seeing the deer visiting already as this is a brand new food plot that isn't even fully planted yet. i have gotten about a quarter acre covered with soy and a half acre covered in clover and mixed brassicas and about another quarter acre of soy left to plant which i am waiting (like ben/pa suggested) til august to plant.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm not much of a food plot hunter, but if I were I don't think that I'd ever put something on my plot that would make deer NOT eat there. I'd let them eat and just plant more.

dmen that's the grand plan... just hoping that I can get enough to grow so i can shoot them.
Little chief- the whole thinking behind the food plot is i only have about 8-10 acres to hunt on. i know the deer are there so i am hoping the plot will draw them there during shooting hours.

With only 1/4 acre of beans, you definitely need to keep the deer out until they are more mature or else they will be gone soon.

I missed the thread where Ben recommended waiting to plant the other 1/4 acre of beans until August. Could you post it up? Planting that small of a bean plot may be a futile effort, as it will be mowed down by the deer very quickly.

I've always read that if you don't have at least 3-4 acres, then don't plant beans because they will be gone.

Wait until late Aug. or early Sep and plant some field rye in it. It will quickly grow and will continue to grow as long as the high temp gets above 38 degrees. The deer at our place were still hitting our plot in January when season closed and there were still a lot of tracks in it in April during turkey season.
