One of our clover plots has a great deal of thistles in it. We mowed the plot about 3 weeks ago hoping to get rid of them, but they still came back. We then hoed out all of the thistles in the plot hoping that would maybe do the trick; however, I looked at the plot today and they are once again growing back. I know that Round-up would kill the thistles, but it would also kill the clover that is around the thistles. At this point, that is about the only option that I can think of. Does anyone having any other suggestions?
This stuff will kill thistles in clover without harming the clover. It's available at Cabelas and thru Whitetail Institute. http://www.whitetailinstitute.com/products/images/Slaylabel.pdf
I believe you can spray roundup on clover as long as you don't mix it too strong. It's also best to do in the spring when it is cooler and you have plenty of rain in the forecast. It might burn it, but it won't kill it.
I know it's too late but if there's just a few of them, put some roundup on a sponge and just get thsoe thistle bushes.
