So did the coyotes. Bummer. My uncle had a doe completely ate this year, too.

But glad you found him! Was your shot placement better than you thought? Looks like a nice eight point. Congrats!

Glad you found him! Please give us the details. (ie. pic of entrance, organs hit, distance to recovery, etc..) So we can all learn from it. :)

Okay class is in session lol, all the blood was coming from the mouth, none from the wound. Entry was high and forward, it was a bad shot no two ways about it. He didn't run more than 150 yards, the angle of the arrow definitely caught lung. I'm a decent tracker, went to a few overnight camps for it when I was younger; but there was no way in hell we were gonna find this deer last night. Aim small miss small, aim big, shoulder shoot deer.

Congrats on finding him. Consider lowering your tree stand would be my only suggestion, no need to make an already challenging situation rougher with a 30+' stand.

image.jpg image.jpg I didn't get a pic of the entry, probably because I was so pissed the shot was so far off from where I was aiming lol. Thanks for all the help guys, glad we got some closure on this. I'm thinking about throwing the winter gear on and coyote hunting over that carcass tonight with some 7.62x39 soft points and a red light

Congrats on the find! I'd agree with using the carcass as bait. They'll be back for sure.

Dude... I hate coyotes. Its a crying shame that nice buck was wasted. I had them get to one last year too but not nearly that bad. I tried mechanicals one year, hoping for better blood. I experienced less blood on every deer because from a tree, you get a high entrance and often no exit. I went back to solids. We all hope for perfect shots every time, but from 30 feet up, you are going to hit bone sometimes. You did well to find the deer though.

    Well???

At least you found him. I have hit a couple in the shoulder but the one I remember is an old doe that I pushed for 2 miles on Drummond Island, MI through tad alders and swamp. I took a nap with her once I found her.
