I just installed a QAD HDX on a Hoyt Rampage XT. I believe I have everything set up right and took it to a pro shop and they didn't make any adjustments other than moving the rest horizontally closer to the riser. I noticed immediate streaking after shooting it. If i turn odd vane up it's not too bad, but if I turn odd vane down it started peeling up the felt. I took off that launcher and put on the TL1 launcer and still streaking. QAD says is shouldn't matter whether you shoot odd vane up or down if it's tuned correctly. I don't really think it's a timing issue because the 2 lines line up perfectly and it seems to come up at last inch of draw. The timing cord is also places well below the grip. Could it be the nocking point? It seems to be fairly square by looking at it right now. Or is it something else I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated.
I don't have a bow square, but the instructional video says the D-Loop should be 1/8" to 1/4" above where the arrow sits on the rest. I thought the TL1 launcher would eliminate the need for this, but I could be wrong.
i shoot odd vane up and if i dont set the lock up before i draw it comes up and the very end of the draw also.
I don't think it's an issue with timing unless it's too close to the riser and it's hitting the shelf. Maybe I need to move it to the left a little.
Forgot moving or adjusting your nock point until your center shot is setup: Setting up a rest for the first time means starting with the rest positioned in such a way that the arrow is perpendicular & square to the riser in both directions (horizontal and vertical). This is setting up the center shot. Look at your bow from the side with an arrow nocked on the string and sitting on the launcher in the up position (doesn't have to be fully locked up). The arrow shaft should be perpendicular with the two large rest mounting holes in the riser. You can tape or hold a ruler or another shaft so it's lined up with the holes then see if your arrow on the string is perpendicular. If its cocked up or down, adjust your nock point up or down. You can also adjust the rest height up or down but make sure you have enough height so when the launcher drops down, it doesn't hit the shelf. Once your horizontal is set (up/down on the nock point) you'll set your left/right by adjusting the rest left or right. Again, hold a ruler or spare shaft flush against the riser and with an arrow loaded, look down the length of the arrows and adjust your rest left or right to make them perpendicular. Once this is done you'll have your centershot. Then you can move on to paper tuning and making small rest adjustments to fix any paper tear issues. I don't know what they're talking about in the video; I didn't watch it but I still setup my QAD with the above method in about 20 minutes with perfect results.
I have the same bow and rest. I get streaking as well. I've taken mine to a pro shop twice where they spent about 30 min. And can't seem to find any problem. Said they will fletch my arrows for free before the season begins if it continues. I'll keep shooting until then. Let me know if you find the cure.
I was having this problem with my mission and qad hd. I just twisted my odd fletch out and at an angle. I look down my arrow and visualized what the fletched would hit with the shot. Worked for me.
I followed this video. Eventhough I have a Bowtech and this is for a Mathews it worked perfectly. I've never had an issue with mine since setting it up.
