Hi guys, I've noticed that my peep has started to turn slightly so that it isn't completely aligned. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to fix this? Thank you.
I got my string replaced this year and had the same problem when I got home to shoot it. I called up the bow shop and told the guy what was happening and apparently that's normal with a new string and sometimes has to do with other things like storage or the string being old and loosening up. The guy told me the string takes about 70 shots before the string fully settles (if the string is new), so every time I shot to twist the peep a 1/4 twist in the direction it needed to go and after the string was fully settled the peep would line up. He said that doesn't always work and if it didn't to take it back to the shop and he would tighten the string a half turn to make sure it lined up then. I took his first advice and after about 50 shots my peep was lined up perfect and haven't had to mess with it since.
So knock your arrow, then twist the peep in the direction it needs to go (grab your peep with your pointer finger and thumb from the sides and twist your string a 1/4 turn) .. It should stay pretty close to where it was when you twisted it when you draw your bow (but might twist slightly in the opposite direction you twisted it).. You might have to do this over and over again and hope the string eventually trains itself to stay in the position you want it.. If not take it to a shop (or do it yourself if you have the equipment), they might have to tighten your string with a half twist or so to help it line up again. I also don't know how old your string is, might be time to replace it as well? Like to hear how you make out with it, hope this helps!
My bow shop twisted my D loop so it lined up with the peep, now when I pull the D loop the peep is in line.
Thanks for the advice I will try it out. My bow is a couple months old and I've hunted with it but just noticed recently that it wasn't 100% aligned. Thanks again I hope it works.
I took my bow to the shop couple months ago due to this. He told me it just happens and added another string around it. He said if it happens more, when I hook my D loop just to pull it the direction I need before drawing. It started again a couple weeks ago. It's a pain and my strings will be replaced this winter. I had new strings put on both bows and he first one twisted after about 50 shots. Took it back to the archery shop and he fixed it in about 2 minutes. I hear that is normal when a new string is put on a bow.
I put a new string on mine, then kept swapping peeps. Finally found one I like, but it kept turning. I ended up re-serving it into the string and now it's settling right in. It was a little low as well so I raised it as well.
