Does anyone have a focus grip on their mathews. Can you really tell a difference in performance from your regular mathews grip? What does the focus grip really do?
HUGE difference (in shootability IMO)! I will never own another Mathews WITHOUT the Focus grip. Its much narrower, basically just the riser width plus an 1/8'' or so. It may be odd at first if you are used to the wider wood grip, but once you shoot with it for a bit you'll never go back. Atleast I won't anyway. There is less surface area in your hand, making you less apt to torque the bow.
I've put a focus grip on every Mathews I've owned. I like the rubber grip when its wet or cold and I'm wearing gloves.
Yep I love mine also. It's narrower, so it slips into the crotch of your hand better, and more consistently, which in turn should help with torquing the bow one way or the other.
I was skeptical at first, but since I put my first one on, every Mathews bow I've owned has gotten one. I think they only reason they don't have that grip as standard is to sell more aftermarket focus grips. Buy one, you WILL NOT regret it.
Thought the same as you and I loved the wood grip and always associated a Mathews with the awesome looking a great quality wooden grip, but then I switched....I LOVE it!!! I def recommend it and like others have said you will not be disappointed!
