Hey everyone im new to this site and new to bow hunting. I have been a rifle hunter all my life but i will admit I know nothing about bow hunting or bows and what stuff is better then any others. I am a lefty shooter and I would like everyones help to possible give me advice on what brands are good I am looking into buying my first compound bow and what parts are better then others. please any advice you can give me is good. thank you
Welcome to the site! There are many many good bows out there. Honestly, your best bet is to find a good archery proshop in your area. There you can get measured for correct drawlength and try shooting different bows. It will be admitingly hard since you are a lefty, but they should still have some for you too shoot. (Also note that figuring out what your dominant eye is, is more important than being left or right handed) Get out there and try some bows. Some will feel better and shoot better in your hands than others. Good luck!
Ditto Also there may be an archery group that you could connect with if you are a groupie. I have several bow hunter friends that helped get me started. A little encouragement goes a long way when you miss the target and shoot your pump house. Don't ask. RC
I would say to just try shooting different bows and it will make it a lot easer to find your bow. Good luck finding it and have fun hunting!
hey thanks for all the advice my big question is what brands are good and what ones do you guys think i should stay away from or are they all good ?
Welcome fellow lefty shooter. You've certainly found the right place. You're thread looks like the one I started a month ago as I was in the same situation as you are. Like the others have mentioned the best thing in the world you could do is find a good knowledgeable pro-shop and go shoot...think it over and go shoot some more. I would recommend trying to go the used route. Dropping $800 for a bare bow could be kinda hard to stomach at first. I will say it is all kinds of addicting. I bought a gently used 07 Bowtech Guardian for $300 and have managed to put on a ton of goodies since then. My goal was to get something I could afford to play around with and learn as much as possible. So my total investment is currently around $500. There are so many good bows out there. Some will say you should only shoot a Matthews or a Hoyt or whatever. My $0.02 in an effort to keep it simple is....the best bow is the one you shoot accurately and consistently. At the end of the day all that matters is that you hit what you aim for with the needed velocity. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress.
Hello and welcome..... Great ideas from the guys already. Shoot until you find the one that is most comfortable to you and everything else will will fall in to place....>>>>>>
