So i got a new bow and i am curious about if someone can help me. The bow shoots great and i really like it. Much better than my old bow, however i have noticed when my arrows hit the target the fletching is typically to the left of POI. Is there anything i can try or do before taking it to the shop? If i can save the 20 dollar tuning fee because all i need to do is move my rest then id like to do that. Btw it is a bear attitude with TR whisker biscuit. Hope that helps. Anything anyone can tell me would be great guys.
The angle the arrow has coming out of the target tells you nothing. Do your BH hit the same place as FP? This will tell you something. Did you walk back tune? I would start there. Hang a string or draw a line vertical through the center of your target. Shoot at 3 yards and set your sight to hit the line (high on the target) every time. Then go back to 40-50 yards (even 30 will tell you something), aim with the same pin at the same spot. You arrows will be lower but should hit the line, or at least as close as your abilities. I shoot 3 arrows and take the average. Then move you rest a little the same way you want the arrows to move. Then start over. Let us know what happens. Good luck.
Thanks for the help. Ill try that. Ill admit i havent shot it enough to get a good idea. Maybe 10 times. My arrows kept going through the target and ripping the vanes off if i shot the center.
get out everyday and shoot shoot shoot!! that's the only way to do it, make sure you aren't torquing your bow when you release too. a bag is not a good representation of it not landing straight because once it hits it can twist and move based on the material stiffness inside. Just make sure you are practicing or you wont be ready
Rsmith- trust me i know to practice every day. I shot competition for years when i was younger and the only way to win is to practice more than the next person. Ive only had the bow two days and the only reason i havent shot it more is im waiting on my quick fletches to come in. All my arrows passed through the target and ripped the vanes off before i could get too far into practice. Lol
Whitetail hit. Walk back running and broad head tuning are something that you can easily do as long and you have a safe space to shoot. Also check arrow spine charts too to make sure your arrows are close to spec. You can do a google search to find one and many arrow manufacturers have one on their web site. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Thanks for all the help guys. Once my quick fletches come in ill be out there doing a walk back tune.
Best bet is to start with walk back tuning first to get your fieldtip arrows hitting in the same vertical line. Then start over and shoot some broadheads mixed in with the fieldpoints. Get them to hit the same spot and you're ready to roll.
i think it depends on the target cause all my morrel targets the arrows hit and do all kinds of funky things. 3d there are all good .
Just an update. Got my quick fletches in today. Love them btw. So freakin easy and a lot cheaper than gettin my arrows fletched at my sport shop. Went out shooting and did a walk back tune to 25yds. I dont have any more room to shoot at this moment but im goin to a buddies with a huge yard later to go to 40yds. Only had to make one little rest adjustment. The rest was spot on. When i get my BH ill tune to those and im all set. Thanks for all the help guys.
