Please explain (if you can) what your take is on what Rex THINKS he's doing. "It's personal. It's Rex Ryan against Bill Belichick." Last week it was personal against Peyton Manning. This week...he takes ANOTHER shot at Brady (last week he poked fun that Brady wasn't the QB Manning is). What in God's name does he think he's doing? Is it calculated? Or, is he simply this egotistical...and this stupid? Comparing himself to Belichick is insulting to Belichick. He can't hold Bill's coaching jock. He simply doesn't have the resume'. (disclaimer....I'm not a football guy)
IMO, he is doing all of this for publicity. He is marketing himself and his team to get in the spotlight.
His father was not all there either, I think it's gentic. His father traded a guy becasue "All he does is score Touchdowns" LOL
I think he is extremely egotistical, but I think most of it is calculated. He draws all the attention leading up to the game so the media focuses more on him than his players which means they get a much better and more productive week of practice.
MN....I hear ya. I've thought about that, too. But, at some point.....if you play for the man....do you not get tired of him making it about him all the time? I can buy into what you're saying.....IF....IF he's told his team that's what he's doing. Then, it would kinda be their little joke. Is he that calculated?????????????
I saw an interview with a linebacker that has been with him on two teams. The above is the impression I came away with afer the interview. Don't know if it's the actual truth or the linebacker was "protecting" him but it seemed Ryan wanted the circus to revolve around him and not the players and that the players appreciated it.
yes and.... yes I think he had this weeks little remark already planned and written out before the Colts game was over. He's an idiot IMO.
for me its all about respect. you cant just fall into a head coaching job, no matter what one my "think" about his qualifications (much like our presidency) jab jab jab i respect him for what he has gone thru to get where he is. now is/does he conduct things differently than a Walsh, Landry or even Belichick? YES and to me the NFL needs some of that diversity not only in the players personalities but owners (Cuban)coaches (Guillen), GM's (Newsome) and league higher ups. football like anything else in our society is changing drastically and the norms that we are used to are going or long gone, i think thats why folks who have remained "on top" stand out so much more these days. remember the days of coaches staying on teams thru years and years of players? now a guy could get fired halfway thru his first season!!!!!!!! maybe this guy is trying to set himself up for something after his days of being a head coach are over... endorsements, reality tv, etc. whatever it is his team is playing in a division game this weekend and on the road to doing what they told everyone with ears they'd do since Hard Knocks..... props from me
I think he's trying to motivate his players, but I also think he's trying to take the conversation off of Mark Sanchez, and on to something different (not surprisingly himself). I do like Ryan, and the JETS.
He likes to hear himself talk. The media runs with everything he says because of the large market he represents. If he acted that way and was the coach for a smaller market team you wouldn't hear or see his big mouth near as much.
I think he is insecure. Just like the bully that has to try and scare all the other kids on the block Ryan is all about puffing himself and his team up and hopes no one calls his bluff.
