I went with a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40 with the Long Range Reticle for my new rifle... Got the screw in Leupold flip up lens covers. Can't wait to get this barrel broken in and sighted in.
Really nice looking rig. I am a sucker for wood stocks although I have some synthetic stocked guns my preference is wood. Heard a lot of good things about vortex scopes. I love the 30.06 caliber, doesn't get a lot of love these days but in my opinion is the most versatile cal. for a hunting rifle. Good luck with the new gun. Next you can get into free floating the barrel, bedding the stock and doing trigger work. It's like bows, it gets addictive and according to my wife EXPENSIVE.
Tony, I had never seen this thread until now... 6 pages later I see that you bought a Vortex. That is my recommendation, it's what I have on all my rifles. I get to see lots of rifles every year and I've never seen one that I thought was hands down better. You can't beat the warranty or the customer service. Have fun!
Knowing how you make a living, Dubbs...your recommendation means everything to me...thanks for chiming in on this
