As for the scope I have an extra.. pretty nice one too. So just send that A bolt my way and I'll get er all set up
I have a Browning BAR .270 with a Leupold VX-II 3x9x50 - if I remember correctly, I paid right around $400 for the scope but it's definitely worth the extra $100 you don't want to spend

I am a big fan of Burris Rings, specifically the Burris Signature rings. They have a nylon insert that fits inside the ring, it prevents marring on the scope and is supposed to give you more contact to prevent the scope from slipping. I have these on all my rifles and love them. Signature Rings - rifle scopes, handgun scopes, hunting scopes by Burris Optics
Hard to beat burris in your price range. Going to get some leupold rings for one to mount on my son's. 280 this weekend This one is the one that is going on the .280 http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000G...050&sr=8-2&dpPl=1&dpID=31fpHz1z4jL&ref=plSrch He has the 4.5x12x50 on his 30-06
That is a entry level scope...I was looking for a mid level....like I said, I received a killer deal on a $500+ dollar one
They are little better than entry level quality. I posted after I saw your price range, then I saw where you found one.
