    Nice paint job!

...and YES buy good rings. If you have or know somebody who has a scope mounting kit... use it!

Thanks Christine, I got bored one day and decided to spray it. It sat for about a week though with the khaki base coat cause I was nervous I'd screw it up, but I'm happy with how it turned out. And it's just krylon spray paint so if get tired of it can be removed.

Buy Leupold. If you are patient you can watch Samplelist.com and pick up a great scope for way under retail. With Leupolds warranty it doesn't matter if you buy new as long as the glass is scratch free. I've bought two VX3 scopes off there for 30-40% off retail.

If it were me I'd save another $100 and wait for a 3.5-10x40 VX3 to show up on there. That's what I've got on my .270 and the difference between VXII's and other lower prices scopes is noticeable.

Vortex Crossfire II fits your budget. Topped my .270 with one this fall.

I have the opposite problem as you. I bought a Zeiss conquest a couple years ago on sale and still need to find a rifle to put under it. I looked at and like the browning x bolt a lot, but that A bolt looks really nice as well.

Check out camofire. They've been running some pretty sweet deals on vortex optics lately. They've got fast shipping and I've never had any problems ordering from them. Just be careful because it gets pretty addictive. There's always lots of good deals going on.

Tony most of my life I've had Leopolds. My next scope will be a vortex. Heard to many good things about them. Also never skimp on a scope. I've heard more than once that your scope should cost as much or more than the rifle it's that important.

What kind of deals are you finding on those? I definitely need one for my .223 so I can give back my wife's scope for her muzzleloader lol.
