Sux but glad your okay. If I were looking today, it'd be between a Nissan Titan, Chevrolet 1500 or Toyota Tundra.

I'd strongly consider a Toyota Tacoma.

If gas mileage is not an issue and you love POWER, get a GMC Sierra(or chevy silverado) 1500 4X4 Vortec MAX. It's a 367HP 6.0ltr. in a 1/2 ton truck.... if you catch my drift...lol

Some unbiased thoughts. I'm a DODGE MAN, but I have a REAL engine in my Dodge.....Dodge makes it.....CUMMINS shakes it!!!! But if I were looking at a GAS-engine truck right now, I think CHEVY what I'd be buying. BEST transmissions, best engines, and the look almost as good as that FORD. I was a Ford man for years, but when I decided a wanted a DIESEL, there was only ONE DIESEL that was worth that kind of money!!!! Stick with the GM products, I think they're as good as you can get, unless you want a DIESEL.

How great of a truck would have a Ford Rear-end, a GM Allison Tansmission, and a Cummins diesel??

(although the Duramax is pushing out the most hp and torque.)

Food for thought.....if you are truly buying new...Ford is the only domestic company still hanging on through this buyout bullshit. GM has already said their buyout was futile and are likely to tank anyway.

Unrelated sort of, but I would support Ford over GM in light of these recent times and how both companies reacted. All the trucks are similar in performance/longevity these days, and the guys who talk about parking lot queens likely never take their truck beyond a mud trail anyway. Trucks are 100% personal preference these days pretty much like bows.

BUY FORD. I will say though, If it were ME buying new, I'd find a leftover discounted 08 model, I think they are much sharper looking than the 09s....wtf is up with the 2009 tailgates on the ford? GAY! LOL

Thanks for all the input. Talked to the the body shop and it's totaled.I haven't heard from the cops if they got the guy yet. I'm going to get the report tommorow on it and find out then.

I went to place place I bought my truck last night and GM has no encentives to buy a truck right know unless your in a lease. I just have to say WTF is up with that you would think they would be having a blowout sale.

Soon enough I am betting that will be the case, sadly. They can't AFFORD to cut prices much more with all the tie ins and extra costs they have associated with their vehicles. I saw on the news that GMC has an average of $2000 more in expenses per vehicle over Toyota plants here in the states due solely to Union costs with retirements and increased salaries...Not sure on the accuracy of that statement, but seems a no brainer to me for the man reason why they tanked.

Unless you just want a new vehicle, getting a year or two year old model makes much more sense money wise, still plenty of warranty life left, don't have the "leave the lot losses" in costs, and you are getting basically the exact same truck. If I was looking to save money, I'd buy a very new used model.

Depends how much money you're wanting to spend and if you want it new or used. I'd go with a Chevy z71 or Silverado if you stick with Chevy. If you're open to other trucks I'd definitely go for a dodge cummins diesel.

any of the current 1/2tons are great... only thing hurting the ford right now is the lack of motor (when compared to the 390hp hemi even the chevy is lacking)... seriously, i'd buy the one that I got the best deal on, at this point its all about the $$, the trucks are all so good it doesn't matter which name is plastered on it... find the color you like and get the one that's cheapest... regardless of which you end up with you'll end up with a great truck...

Awhile back my sister and I were looking at new cars in Elgin, IL. (for her) The salesman was showing us the various features of the car when he popped the trunk. My sister and I stood there looking in the trunk and we nodded approvingly. My sister said: "Nice. Big. Two bodies easy." I said: "Three, maybe four if you cut 'em right." The salesman nervously added, "there's a safety release latch in the trunk that opens it from the inside". My sister and I said in almost perfect unison. "We can disable that, right?"

Boy did we ever get a deal on that car. The salesman hardly even attempted to counter offer us. Nervous fellow tho'. :D

Bummer about your truck. I hope you find a new one you like.

I'll admit, I love the looks of the new 1500s and Sierras. However, I'm reading a LOT (and trust me, because just today I was looking again trying to convince myself I don't need a fullsize) of reports about them sucking gas like there's no tomorrow compared to the K1500s and the older 5.3. Most guys report the AFM doesn't seem to work as well as advertised. About 15mpg highway and 12-13 mpg city/combo seems to be the reports for the 4wd 5.3 Ext. Cab and Crew Cabs. Sharp looking trucks though. Granted, I don't think the new Tundra's are all that great on gas, either. They do have a nice 6spd tranny though.
