I have recently found a good deal on a New Redhead(Parker) Micro XSC. The bow is 25 to 27 inch draw which is ok because I am about a 27" draw but my question is the draw weight. It is 40 to 50 pounds. This is where my concern is. I used to shoot a bowtech tomkat before I sold it and got out of bowhunting. Now I am wanting to get back in but not wanting to buy a top of the line bow before I make sure I am going to stick with it a while. My question is, is 50lbs heavy enough to make a clean kill? What about a pass through? I know on my tomkat my weight was around 58 or 60. I dont want to set it to high because I like to be able to practice and not fatigue so fast. My brother has a Mathews LX and he says it is set at 65. I pull it back with no problem however, I belive after about 10 shots practicing I would tire out I think. With the Mathews they have all the technology to make the weight not seem as heavy so he says. Any information? Im not an expert at all and wanted to make sure that 50lbs is around normal and would make a clean kill and possibly a pass through? I am about 5ft 9 and 190 trying to lose if that makes any difference. Thanks for the help.

50lbs is more than enough to get passthroughs and clean kills. Make sure you pick the right type of broadhead for the job though, at 50lbs and 27" you should not be using mechanicals in my opinion.......they will not provide you with the type of penetration you will want consistently. I've be looking at a 2 blade cut on contact type of head, and I would recommend the Magnus Stinger 2 blade.
