Hey everyone. I'm a bit new and had some questions about what I came across while scouting this last weekend. I am in Northwest Florida. Firstly, could anyone tell me what kind of scat this is? Is this raccoon? It's not deer right? It's full of berries and the shrub that the berries are from is around 4-6 feet high and the berries are all gone from the bottom branches. Here is a pic of the berry shrub. This is the second pile of scat I was wondering about, though the picture doesn't show up that great. It basically looks like a small black tar pit, about 3-4 inches in diameter. It looked kinda oily without any real substance in it. The last thing I was wondering, could these be turkey feathers? I assume the black one is from a crow, but how about the brown and white one? Sorry if I'm being a pain. Like I said, I'm new to hunting and trying to learn everything on my own. Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks guys
Deer leave pellets. If they eat berries, traces will be in the pellets. What florida county are you in? I will have some resources for you later.
This book comes highly recommended. Pack it in your day pack while scouting for identifying plants, forbes, trees, etc. http://www.amazon.com/Forest-Plants-Southeast-Their-Wildlife/dp/0820327484
I am in Okaloosa county. I will pick up that book as soon as I can. Thank you for replies hunter1005.
