Hey guys, I could use some info on getting ready for my first hunt. We're going to go on a semi-guided pig hunt in Southern California next month and I have a few questions. My bow is the Mission Blaze 30"/65# What should I be wearing for a pig hunt? Full Camo? What arrows and broadheads would you recommend? Any other equipment besides my bow, arrows, broadheads and camo I should get? Any info you guys can share will be greatly appreciated.
Sup SoCal! Wear what you want, just try to be sneeky and quiet. I like Easton Axis 340s and Slick Tricks. Take a lunch and have plenty of water with you, Have Fun!
Thanks. I'll be there for 3 days. Food and lodging is included and I figured I'd take a camelbak with me.
Im going to shoot Victory V-Force with QAD Exodus broadheads. As far as additional gear I was gonna bring: First aid kit Camelbak Beef jerky/trail mix and an MRE Dry socks Wool blanket Extra pair of dry under clothes Fire starter Knife Flashlight That would all be in my backpack. Is that overkill? Not enough?
I don't know how pigs are in Cali but would think they are the same everywhere. Here in Texas they don't have the best of eye sight but can smell you the same as deer if not better. Then it seems there are those pigs that just don't care about anything but eating. I've killed many pigs in blue jeans and a t-shirt (most are blue or grey). No matter what I wear though I always use some form of scent control. Just my experience.
I'm going to get some camo and a buddy thats going with me has scent blocking stuff that I can use too.
Have you talked with the place you're going through? A lot of the time they are the best resource as what to bring and what to leave at home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
