Figured that I would introduce myself since after lurking for a few years I finally replied replied to a post. I'm in northwest Florida and two passions are hunting and fishing. I'm pretty much a high tech redneck as I not only enjoy my simple country lifestyle but also enjoy the new technologies that are made available to us. Although I will confess that the older I get the more I see our technological advances as a dual edged sword and I'm forced to put on my tin foil cap at times. I mainly hunt hogs in the river swamp by kayak. Nothing better than paddling through a gator infested swamp before sunrise to get the heart pumping. Who needs coffee when you can have to push gators off with your paddle, in the dark. I fully believe and abide by the words of Fred Bear, where hunting success should not be measured by the animal taken but by the experience had. It is an absolute pleasure to be able to get into the woods and whether I take a shot or not the hunt has been successful. Except the time I was stuck in waist deep mud for six hours and finally pulled myself out just after midnight, losing my boots in the mud and having to trek through the swamp barefoot back to my kayak. That experience sucked. I was ready to punch a kitten after that.
Welcome to the site! Seems like quite the experience there...glad you survived it & wish you luck this season.
