Hey, I am a 17 year old guy in New Jersey. I am a total rook at hunting in general. Ive shot compound bows, and I want to go bow hunting. Heres the kicker. No one in my family hunts, and no one i know hunts. I have no equipment whatsoever.Pretty much, im starting from scratch. But ive dreamed of hunting ever since i was a kid. My family says they MIGHT let me go alone. But its a big MIGHT. Im a very responsible guy. But i have no idea how i start before i go out and hunt.
And REALLY would like to go hunting as soon as possible. what do i do?

ps. for a possible christmas/birthday present. My family said they would think about getting me my own equipment (bow, gear, etc.) but because it is so darn expensive. They want me to try it first and see if ill even like it. which is completely understandable.

See about joining a winter archery league at A&M archery in Lakewood. You will meet some great people and a solid starting place. Thats is if you live close to there. Good luck and have fun.

Thanks! also, what are the essential things you might need for Compound Bowhunting? Ive looked online and there are so many pieces and items, whether its for the bow, or gear while hunting. what is essential to go out and hunt?

    Welcome to the site!

Essentials are tag, bow, arrow & scarry sharp broadhead. Everything else is preference :tu:

Also, you'll get a much better response to questions in the bowhunting forum.
