Hi I'm Sam Steep and I'm 18 years old and been hunting since I was 12. This is my first year filming and was wondering if anyone has any tips.
Hi Sam. I've been trying to capture my hunts for a couple years now. What cameras are you planning to use?
Panasonic HC-V770 is what i'm planing to use as a camera but my dad is my camera man because he cant hunt anymore do to health problems. we have a lot of great bucks in the area.
Very nice. I use a similar camera and find the hardest part is to keep it from focusing on branches between you and the game. Where abouts in Ontario are you?
I live In south western Ontario, our deer don't have the biggest racks but they have big body's. Thanks for the tip I haven't found much problems with that camera yet. Will see when season starts Oct 1st
One thing I've learned is the importance of a good camera arm. But since you're not self filming, that will be less critical. One thing that I think makes a video more entertaining, is a second camera used to capture the hunter. Here's a video of a self filmed spring bear hunt I did this spring in Sudbury area. Action starts around the 8 minute mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&persist_app=1&v=ihuZmlTJplw
That actual doesn't look bad. It will be a lot easier for me since I have my camera man. Thanks for the tips tho!
Welcome Sam, and my advise is to watch the past episodes of Bowhunt or Die. You can pick some tips up from what some of us are doing on film. Good luck this season!
