Hello fellow bowhunters. My name is a Todd I am 26 years old and live in Maine, I moved here about a year ago. I work as a mountain guide I teach rock and ice climbing, ski mountaineering and winter mountaineering. I grew up in a very urban area of NJ I was never exposed to hunting and I decided that it's time for me to bag my first deer. (That's the goal anyway) I am VERY new to hunting and decided that if I am going to do it I'm going to do it with a bow. It's something I've always wanted to do. I got my bow about 2 months ago and have been shooting it everyday. My groupings at 20 yards are about the size of my fist. That pretty good right? I got a 2014 Bear Authority. So I have zero hunting experience to speak of however I have been all over the forums here so I like to think I have some idea of what I am doing but really I do not. I would like to try and get a turkey this spring season as well (I think I am being a bit ambitious). I have a slate call that I have been working on and I am TERRIBLE at it. Also I don't know when or what types of calls to make. I'm kinda shooting from the hip. I greatly welcome any help on this topic... I am also curious on what I should be doing now to maximize my chances of bagging a deer this season? As far as scouting goes what should I be looking for and where should i be looking for it? If someone is local in Maine I would be willing to trade some climbing lessons for guided hunts if anyone is interested. Again any help at all is welcome. I'm very very excited.
Welcome! I hope you find this forum very useful, there are many really intelligent guys and gals (I think) on here to help you out!
Welcome aboard Todd. I would suggest doing a good bit searching and reading through previous threads for awhile. Tons of very very useful and insightful info in these boards. Good to have ya with us.
