Hello All, I found this site the other day and thought I'd join because I'm just getting into archery hunting. I hope I can get some insight through the experienced archers. The first questions I have is, how do I find out what arrow/broadhead combos will work best with my bow? I don't want to have to buy several different one to see what shoots best. My brother just quit archery hunting and gave me his bow. All I know is that it's a Jennings Buckmaster with a 30" draw. I don't know what the draw weight is but I'm sure it matters. I'm sure I'll have more questions as the days go by.

First off, welcome to our addiction.

Now about your bow. I would take it to a local Archery Pro Shop and have them see if the bow fits you. You may need to do some adjusting to get the draw length right. And they can set you up with the right arrows from a chart.

As far as finding what broadheads fly good out of your setup. Some shops have a sampling of broadheads to try out before you buy any. That way you can find what works without haveing to buy a bunch of them.

Thanks for the welcome! Sounds like good advice JM. Unfortunately I can't get to one until Saturday. Anyone from the NW Washington area?

Hall, I owned a Jennings Buckmaster several years ago and it was a good bow for me. Your local shop should be able to set you up for your proper draw length. As far as arrows go, I'd look into either Gold Tip XT Hunters or Easton Axis arrows and your shop will set you up with the right size and weight you need. Those are just my opinion of course and as most know about archery, everyone has their personal opinion on a lot of equipment, that's just what has seemed to work great for me. Welcome!

    Welcome DHall Glad your here.
The best advice really is go to a archery shop and have them look at the equipment and make sure it's adjusted to fit you. It will make all the difference and save alot of frustration when your trying to dial in those tight groups of arrows.

Well, originally I'm from Texas. Spent 21 yrs in the Air Force. Retired in Phoenix, AZ and now living north of Seattle, WA. I've hunted most of my life. Mostly in Texas (when I was a youn'un), western Missouri and Arizona. All with a rifle or shotgun. Now I'm going to try to do it the hard way. :)

    Good Hunting to ALL!!!
